Anna Thora Karlsdottir
Textile-artist
The dictionary translation of the word oasis - plural oases - is pasture, meadow, a fertile area in a desert.
In a way, this exhibition is a direct contiuatiion of Anna Thora Karlsdottir's last two private exhibitions - Clear-cuts 2002 and Flying dogs 2013.
The subject matter is, as before, nature and life's struggles and the material is the coarse and the fine hair of Icelandic wool. Anna Thora uses natural colours and the texture of the wool along with dyed wool. This is similar to the painter who blends her colours and makes brush strokes. Water and felting binds the materials together and formes colour tones and textures.
